- Roller Skates
Since the initial invention of roller skates, inventors have plugged away at better models to improve the skating experience. These modifications have included the addition of movable axles, adjustable wheels, and improved bearings—all of which served to make the skating experience more enjoyable.
- Skate Shoes
Is there any difference between skate shoes and tennis shoes or sneakers that actually makes any difference when you're skating? You might think that skate shoes look a whole lot cooler, but is there any practical reason for purchasing them? Surprisingly, yes.
- Inline Skates
Aren't all inline skates the same? If you asked this question to a skate shop owner or an experienced blader, the answer would be an emphatic “No!” There are a number of differences between inline skates—all of which will determine your skating performance in the activity in which you plan to engage.
- Skate Ramp
What is a skate ramp? It seems obvious enough. It's a ramp skate boarders use to perform tricks. But what's interesting is that there are now several dozen models of skate ramp—all of which have evolved since the inception of skate parks in the 1970s.
- Skate Park
The first skate park emerged in the mid 1970s and did not initially catch on as a major fad. Several other parks were erected in the late 1970s. All of these initial ventures were private; and since the concept of a skate park was still in its infancy, many of them were poorly designed—and often done so from the perspective of someone who had never skated themselves.
